Hypothesis testing

A cold tablet is claimed to contain an average of 10 grains of aspirin. Test whether or not this claim is true if a random sample of 100 tablets shows a mean of 9.5 grains of aspirin and a standard deviation of 2.5 grains.
Formulate and test the appropriate hypotheses at the 5% level of significance.

Null Hypothesis: H0: M =10 grains Tablet contains an average of 10 grains of aspirin
Alternative Hypothesis: H1: M not equal to 10 grains Tablet does not contain an average of 10 grains of aspirin

This is a two tailed test since we are testing the hypothesis that mean is not equal to 10 grains

Mean=M = 10 ...
