    Know Your Linear Equations

Each question is a choice-summary multiple choice question that will present you with a linear equation and then make 4 statements about that equation. You must determine which of the 4 statements are true (if any) in regards to the equation.

    1

    The linear equation y = 3 - x:

    I. When graphed will be parallel to the graph of 5y + 5x = 1.
II. Has an x-intercept at the point (0, -3).
    III. Has a y-intercept at the point (0, 3).
    IV. Passes through the origin.

    2

The line that passes through the points (4, -3) and (-2, 0):

    I. Also passes through the point (8, 5).
II. Has a slope equal to -0.5.
    III. Has a y-intercept at the point (0, 1).
IV. Does not intersect the line whose equation is x + 2y = 8.

    3

    The linear equation y = -9:

    I. Has an x-intercept at the point (-9, 0).
    II. Has no y-intercept.
III. Will produce a vertical line when graphed.
IV. Has a slope equal to zero.

    4

    The linear equation x = 1:

    I. Has an undefined slope.
II. Has an x-intercept at the point (1, 0).
III. Passes through the point (1, -3) when graphed.
IV. Will produce a horizontal line when graphed.

    5

    The linear equation y + 1 = 2(x - 3):

    I. Has a slope equal to 2.
II. Has an x-intercept at the point (3.5, 0).
III. Is written in Point-Slope form.
IV. Would be y = 2x - 7 if it were written in Slope-Intercept form.
