I would begin a discussion by asking each of them to share what it is about their chosen improvement strategy that would lead them to select that one over others. I would then ask them to articulate the pros and cons of each, similarities and differences, and how those would apply to different types of quality improvement problems in a healthcare setting. It would be important to help them develop an understanding of the nature of quality improvement methodologies as tools, the selection of which should be based upon the specific problem to be solved.
