Provide an introduction that defines both technology and social change, and discusses how they are related.

Technology and social change has been synonymous throughout human history as evolutionary advances throughout human history have coincided with human development as technological inventions have greatly impacted human cognitive systems. Some examples that are presented throughout history include primitive tools, spoken language, writing, arithmetic systems, etc. All of these technological advances were able to necessitate changes in human brain cognition, which resulted in advances in society as a result. The creation of the internet and its proliferation over the last 30 years has resulted in another milestone in human history wherein human cognition has been deeply reshaped as a result of technology.

Social change as a result of technology is simply predicated upon how technology throughout history has been able to entirely transform how humans think, behave, and perceive, and the internet has had one of the most profound impacts on human social interactions and the social environment in history. In addition, this change has been rapid with most of the world only being avid users of internet technology over the last 16 years or the beginning of the 21st century. Throughout this extremely short period of time in human history, humans have been immensely transformed as a result of 21st century technology, and this trend will only continue to increase as the technological advances become even more advanced.
