The marketing plan will take into consideration the current economic crisis. The strategy of the health insurance company will be to reduce costs and offer insurance packages at very competitive prices. Two segments will be targeted, the first will be the managed care segment and the other will be the private insurance segment of new unemployed persons and those that are uninsured.
2. Situation Analysis
o Market Summary:
The national health expenditure are estimated to reach $3.1 trillion in 2012 from $1.4 trillion in 2001. this means that there will be an average growth rate in heath care spending of 7.3 percent. The health care spending is expected to reach 17. 7 percent of the GDP by 2012 from 14.1 percent in 2001; In other words there is an expectation of high growth in the health care industry.
o SWOT Analysis
The strengths of the company are the company has an excellent portfolio of health care options for different types of customers. In addition, the company has an excellent reputation of meeting claims, it has widespread brand recognition and a well trained sales force.
