The advantages of utilizing celebrities in marketing campaigns include the name recognition, face recognition, and voice recognition of a celebrity. When a marketing company uses a celebrity in their ads, it provides a face for a consumer to place on the product, as opposed to any lay person. If a celebrity is used, for example, the Allstate commercials utilize Dennis Haysbert. Although his name may not sound familiar, his face and his voice are very recognizable. Whenever you hear the Allstate commercial on the radio, the use of a celebrity voice allows you to recognize the Allstate brand quickly and makes you think of their services. Further, when watching a television show that Dennis Haysbert is in, you may think "hey he's the Allstate guy". The use of celebrity recognition allows the product or service to quickly come into the consumer's mind, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the commercial and the celebrity spot.

Furthermore, many times a consumer will purchase a product or inquire about a service simply because of the celebrity endorsing the same. A celebrity in a marketing campaign can help establish a fan base for the product simply because he/she was in the marketing campaign.
