What unique difficulties do female group leaders face? Many female group leaders face prejudice. Even in today's modern world, a female leader is not looked at the same way as a man leader. Let's look at two strong business leaders that were perceived differently based on gender.
In the 1980s Leona Helmsley ran many of New York's posh hotels, as her husband owned them. She ran a tight operation and was brass with the employees. So brass, that she was called the "Queen of Mean." (MSNBC 2007)
Donald Trump owns many hotel properties and is tough and brass with his employees but he is regarded as a great manager, an icon, a great businessman. When a women is in charged she is considered Mean or a Bitch. When a man is in charge, he is considered a firm leader.
