The healthcare organization must first identify the improvements that are needed for the organization, and this can occur through the use of self-assessments, customer satisfaction surveys, organizational reviews, and other measures that allow a routine and systematic assessment of the healthcare service organizations' needs. The most pertinent needs can only be identified by including the entire staff in the process wherein the staff has insight into the changes and improvements that are needed because of they are on the front lines of providing care for the organization. In addition, consumer input can provide a wealth of information and data on how consumers perceive the quality of care, which represents an important part of the process. These changes are contingent upon whether or not the organization can align the improvements with its organizational goals and objectives.
