Conflict arises in organizations with regularity. Conflict within the complex health care environment may be more prevalent than that found in other, less intense organizations. All conflict is not onerous. Differences of opinion can result in the generation of new, innovative processes and improved functioning. Although time-consuming, interaction and conflict at the planning stages of new programs can result in a better product. Programs that are in process may experience similar conflict interruptions. An experienced manager will recognize those that are well intended and those that are only disruptive.
