As a resident of the United States and one who has worked in small schools, large districts, BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) schools, failing schools, with wealthy families, charter schools, private schools and with home-school families and groups, I marvel at institutions that continue to mandate students and teachers to continue working with outdated and failing styles in delivery of education. Why? Politics, expectations and resources could account for failure of organizations to upgrade and change. Will there be consequences to this reluctance to change? Just as oil and cream float to the top, styles that work are easier to flow with. Japan is not on this short list but ranks high, as well. The problem with ...
