Kotter's eight-stage organizational change process is developed to support leaders in organizational change. The model helps speed up the change process in a fast-paced environment. The eight steps of Kotter for leading changes are:
Step 1: Creating Urgency. Urgency is created by spotting potential threats and scenarios to illustrate what can happen in the future, show opportunities that can be exploited, commence honest discussion and give reasons, and get support from external stakeholders to strengthen the argument.
Step 2: Form a Powerful Coalition: This means that people have to be persuaded. The leader needs to identify important leaders/ stakeholders, ask for an emotional commitment from these people, and build a team for change.
