Art and cognitive behavioral therapy may help in some areas of development of personality and emotional stability in sexually abused children, but the efficacy of play therapy as well as pet therapy is much more as recognized by research studies done in this area.
The hypothesis for the present study is based on this research finding that pet therapy is effective as a treatment for sexually abused children in helping them heal and for their personalities and emotional well-being to develop, to some extent eliminating or minimizing the negative effects of trauma they underwent through their sexual abuse experiences.
