Dear Orlando,
Hi. As I understand it, you are being asked to put together a paper that will look into the current practice that you have in organization in terms of training and development opportunities. I believe that the work you need to do should focus on the current training opportunities. Aside from that - you already have the key information you need to describe the organization. My suggestion for an outline to this paper is as follows:

1. Introduction - what is the paper about? 100 words
2. About the CBP - you can take this from the paper you already submitted - 150 words
3. CBP hierarchy - 100 words and the CBP organization chart
4. Current Training and Development programs (provide 3, cite from CBP resources) - 400 words
5. Accessing the program - how do employees make use of the opportunities? Focus on personal experience - 150 words

This outline should yield around 900 words which should cover what you need. You can also use the listed resources to further explore the topic. A word version is also attached (this includes the org chart). Just let me know if you need further clarification. All the best and good luck!

Training & Development: Organizational Review

Training and development is an essential skills and functional capacity element in any organization. Organizations invest in their employees not only because of what they currently possess in terms of skills, qualifications and capacities but because of the promise they hold in terms of what they can become through experience, exposure, mentorship and training. Additionally, employees and workers of today are very much engaged in their own personal and professional development so that they find that they are always on the lookout for opportunities in the firms that they are with or, if they are seeking employment, they are looking for organizations that will afford them further development and opportunities through instituted training programs. This position is healthy for employees and their organizations as it allows organizations access to better trained, more skilled manpower and talent to ensure that they are always on the cutting edge to complete their tasks and goals in a more effective way while at the same time it empowers employees, promoting organizational appreciation, loyalty and confidence.

I am currently employed with the Department of Homeland Security's key organization under its umbrella - the Customs and Border Protection Agency or the CBP. The organization that I work for is one of the primary agencies of the US federal Government. Its main trust is to regulate and facilitate international trade, collect import duties, as well as enforce U.S. regulations, including trade, customs and immigration. It is a massive agency under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) umbrella and since it is federal, because of its sheer responsibility it is the largest law enforcement agency in the US. At the moment it has over 43,600 sworn-in agents and officers out of a total employee number of 58,000. The specializations of its employee-base are diverse as outside of its agents and officers it has agriculture specialists, aircraft pilots, trade specialists, mission support staff (for both domestic and ...
