In reference to the use of information technology to improve the competitive position for a rural or small community hospital, the adoption of cloud technology should be implemented because it is the most adaptive technology that fits the needs for rural and small hospitals. Cloud technology represents a cost-effective tool that enables rural and small hospitals to gain a competitive advantage by improving the financial operations, delivery of care, and reducing costs for the rural or small hospital. Rural hospitals are afforded the ability to seamlessly upgrade their networks with Cloud technology wherein healthcare partners are able to also able to access the secure network using built-in support and research that will help to advance the practice. Workflow inefficiencies are capable of being eradicated, data flows easier, and new revenue opportunities will open because of higher visibility associated with the rural hospital as a result of their presence on the Cloud.
