These are the two main types of health care information systems.
1. Operational/Administrative Information Systems (Clinical EPR Systems)
The first type of system being discussed here is the Clinical EPR system or the Electronic Patient Record Keeping system. To keep it in the broader sense and general overview this system is not being described in context to any particular country, government regulation or legislation. The system is being discussed for general knowledge and application.
A clinical EPR system is type of an operational or administrative information system in healthcare. This system generally consists of the most basic information of patient details for operational and administrative purposes. The database is usually like a master index containing a master record for each patient that is usually linked to other clinical or healthcare systems for other usages.
