The World Health Organization (WHO) reported 9.4 million incidents of Tuberculosis (TB) cases and 1.7 million deaths in 2009. While wealthy countries have come a long way in the last 129 years with all but eliminating this disease, the fact that still many are afflicted elsewhere with TB is of great concern globally.
Next, unlike many micro-organisms, influenza changes often and each year vaccines are produced to protect populations again pandemics. Especially the vulnerable (aging populations, those with immunity challenges, youth, homeless, etc.) are usually urged to be vaccinated. But the problem is there simply are not adequate resources to vaccinate everyone and the virus changes.
