Generational differences in parenting practices definitely seems to have a huge role in the shaping and development of the personalities of children; the newer generation. Along with how the parents and their parents lived and interacted as a family, cultural and main- stream societal trends include more opportunities for children to stay busy in activities away from the family, interactive toys and learning tools where the presence and company of parents is not necessary, even within the house environment, working parents and their absence at homes, when children and adolescents grown up to be pretty much their own guardians, etc. How parents encourage children and adolescents and how they handle their mistakes and set boundaries for them, differ from one generation of parents to the next.
