The TCP/IP is called as Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol. It uses many protocols; in those the two main protocols used in this is TCP and IP. This protocol is used to hook up hosts on the Internet .TCP/IP is used for transmitting data over networks. Even many network operating systems that have their own protocols, such as Netware e.t.c., also support TCP/IP.
FTP:
It is also called as File Transfer Protocol. FTP is the oldest application protocols is being used still on the Internet, and is invoked by web browsers when a user requests a file download.
