-Shared Leadership
Shared leadership is predicated upon a democratic approach toward leadership wherein leadership responsibilities and duties are extending to many different people within the organization. The objective is to expand the decision-making process associated with operations, strategy, and implementation by encouraging all stakeholders to take a vested interest in the outcomes for the business. It is believed by extending leadership responsibilities, more productivity, organizational commitment, and progress will occur as people who feel that they are an integral part of the process are more inclined to ensure that the organization succeeds. The tenets of this theory are a shared purpose, social support, and providing every stakeholder with a voice in the leadership process. It is believed as globalization continues to expand, more complex markets will increase the use of this style of leadership as the complexity associated with globalization demands more than one leader in global organizations.
