Time management, communication, and motivation are the three core attributes that a project manager requires in order to lead a successful team. A project manager uses time management more to his advantage than does the traditional manager. In a traditional management environment, line men report to the line managers (vertically). However, in the project management environment, they must also report to their project managers (horizontally). A project manager is with their project from beginning to end and is then able to take pride in his or her work. From an employee standpoint, the line men are to ultimately see to their line manager. If a project manager does not help himself, there would be no need for the project manager. A project manager is obviously there to plan and monitor. It would not be profitable to have one if other employees were fulfilling this job requirement. A project manager is also entirely responsible for his decisions, so he would want to work towards himself.
All of the characteristics become a part of project management. I would not say that customer problem is a characteristic of project management. However, I would say that customer acceptance is.
