On February 19th the House of Representatives passed a spending bill along party lines to impose $61 billion in government funding cuts for the rest of the fiscal year ending on September 30th. The bill would eliminate many educational and health programs including the Federal School Counseling Program-the only source of federal funds dedicated solely to creating or expanding comprehensive school counseling programs by hiring school counselors, school social workers and school psychologists.
