"Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a chronic condition that affects millions of children and often continues into adulthood. ADHD includes a combination of persistent problems, such as difficulty sustaining attention, hyperactivity and impulsive behavior (MayoClinic 2019)." ADHD itself is not a learning disability; however, it most times makes learning very difficult. Sadly, too often, the ADHD student goes undiagnosed and they are described and perceived by their teachers as "irresponsible", "bad", "stupid", and "disobedient". What teachers don't realize is that these students are actually intelligent but are quickly bored, under-stimulated, forgetful, and may require specific in-school needs to help facilitate learning and understanding of the material.
