    Signs are what the doctor can observe; symptoms are the physiological perceptions of the patient ("I feel hot"). Sometimes, however, the two words are used synonymously.

    Both Pyelonephritis and Cystitis are urinary tract infections, or UTI and have some of the same signs and symptoms as you will see below.
