An annotated bibliography is a document containing selected sources accompanied by a respective annotation. Each annotation consists of a summary, analysis, and application for the purpose of conveying the relevance and value of the selected source. As such, annotations demonstrate a writer's critical thinking about and authority on the topic represented in the sources.

In preparation for your own future research, an annotated bibliography provides a background for understanding a portion of the existing literature on a particular topic. It is also a useful precursor for gathering sources in preparation for writing a subsequent literature review.

•Locate several articles on a research topic of your interest—quantitative research articles, qualitative research articles, and mixed methods research articles—published in peer-reviewed journals.
•Prepare an annotated bibliography that includes the following: •A one-paragraph introduction that provides context for why you selected the research articles you did.
•A reference list entry in APA Style for each of the six articles that follows proper formatting. Follow each reference list entry with a three-paragraph annotation that includes: •A summary
•An analysis
•An application as illustrated in this example

Researchers utilized the three most common types of research studies to analyze and provide a synthesis of how qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research studies have been presented within the research literature regarding severe mental illnesses and specific behavioral lifestyle interventions for research subjects within this group. Researchers' conducted a literature review that entailed assessing whether any of the qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods studies acquired from the Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, or other eight electronic databases searched for the literature review conducted research studies that focused on factors capable of facilitating successful interventions with subjects suffering severe mental illnesses.

The objective of the research was to deduce whether researchers had appropriated the necessary effort to conduct scientific studies on the issues that induce higher rates of increased mortality and morbidity in patients who suffer severe mental illnesses in comparison to the general population. Therefore, the researchers assessed whether the literature review would provide qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research studies that would provide data on evidence-based research that displayed treatment interventions that focused on the social and lifestyle factors of patients suffering from severe mental illnesses, which have been shown to cause significant health disparities.
Despite the fact that there have been positive healthcare outcomes for patients from this cohort that receive lifestyle interventions that address negative behaviors that are higher in this cohort such as smoking, which have been successfully addressed through exercise ...
