Policy proposals that are DNP nurses will be able to propose as a result of their training and skills accumulated throughout their DNP education will be predicated upon building effective coalitions within the healthcare industry. The most effective policies have wide-scale support from all stakeholders, and to accomplish this, DNP nurses will possess the skills to effectively communicate with all stakeholders and ensure that they facilitate collaboration between these stakeholders. Therefore, the skills and knowledge learn throughout the DNP education is capable of providing this vital skill set wherein the courses that are taken help increase the knowledge of nurses regarding the political arena. Nurses who attend universities offering DNP are more versed in politics because the DNP program emphasizes the importance that politics play in developing policy, and this is why DNP nurses will need to network and engage all stakeholders through diplomacy and advocacy. The key word is advocacy as DNP nurses must maintain their ability to advocate on behalf of patients.
