    The problem of unhygienic practices by healthcare providers is pandemic, and is one of the most pressing issues facing the American healthcare system as well as the global healthcare system. This problem is highlighted by the lack of quality handwashing practices wherein there is a culture of not properly washing hands that has resulted in millions of unnecessary infections, illnesses, and deaths. The problem has to be sufficiently addressed to prevent unnecessary morbidity, mortality, and increased cost of treatment for hospital related infections. These are largely preventable if the healthcare providers would implement the appropriate hand washing practices as well as other hygienic measures. The magnitude of this problem can't be overstated as it is one of the biggest healthcare threats that exists in the health industry.

    There must be collaboration between governments, world health organizations, and healthcare providers to change the primary issue that could net more optimal healthcare outcomes and lessen the infections and deaths that emanate from unhygienic hand washing practices. This requires an entirely new approach toward handwashing in healthcare settings. This basic and simple practice could eradicate a large portion of disease and infection that occur within healthcare settings but currently most healthcare providers fail to properly wash their hands.
