I will explain fraternities and sororities because these are the easiest social groups to analyze in regard to the three main sociological perspectives because fraternities and sororities are comprised of many group dynamics. Therefore, (you) can choose your own example if you wish, but I will emphasize the impact that these institutions have on their members and how the different sociological perspectives can help to explain the group dynamics that are present in fraternities and sororities.

Describe in three separate paragraphs how each perspective would view or explain the issue.

Fraternities and sororities would be described as an interconnected institution that seeks to establish a specific social identity for the whole unit by functionalism. To gain entrance into a fraternity or sorority, a person must accept preconditions that are associated with the specific institutions' history, mantra, etc. In this context, functionalism would look at these two institutions as the place where people go to become socialized in a culture that is supposed to provide knowledge and guidance that will allow students to become ...
