Goals of the program
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration ( SAMHSA) is an agency within the US Department of Health and Human Services that leads to public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. The goal of the SAMHSA is "to make the substance use and mental disorder information, services, and research more accessible to the mental and abuse population." (1) Its strategic goals are " to help people with mental and substance use disorder, build strong and supportive communities, prevent costly health problems, and promote better health for the populations. " (1)
