A commercially-produced assessment tool that I used extensively at my last school in the US was one produced by Promethean. This company makes interactive white boards and a software package that creates presentations for that board, called flashcharts. Similar to PowerPoint, but much more interactive, Promethean's software can be integrated with hand-held devices which allow students in the classroom to take quizzes and tests that are projected on the white board.
