A: The role of a teacher is manifold. First and foremost, a teacher teaches. To do this, the teacher manages and facilitates the learning process, presenting the subject matter of his or her expertise to students in a manner that is engaging, inclusive and involving so that it is understood and if possible, appreciated. The learning process takes place in a variety of settings, usually a classroom in a school, a college, a training facility, a workplace - essentially an educational environment which these days include VLEs (virtual learning environments). The responsibility of teaching is to ensure that learning takes place as learning is the mark of teaching success. Teaching is challenging but when the aim of producing confident, knowledgeable and independent learners is achieved, the success of the learners can be rewarding.
