Benchmarks are simply the performance goals against which an organization's success is measured. They provide useful feedbacks to monitor and evaluate our operations in the organization. In order to find the appropriate benchmarks, first of all we should create a team that represents a cross-section of our organization. Because we need to understand the internal processes or operations in each section and collect data on their key performance metrics. Then we should let this team to assess the organization's current status. This will help us to build a fair picture of our organization, find our flaws and lacks, provide valuable comparisons and establish our benchmarks. These benchmarks should be planned and ongoing processes. Thus one-time exercises cannot be considered as benchmarks. They should be an integral part of our organization's overall plan to compete in the industry and should be driven by an overall organizational ...
