I currently teach at an international school in Chiang Mai, Thailand. International schools, in many ways, function similar to a business and yet there stated purpose is not to make money but to educate students. Since there are at least five other international schools in Chiang Mai, a city of between 500,000 and 1 million depending on the definition of the term city limits, there is much competition for foreign students. Some statistics put the number of expats living in Chiang Mai at 20,000. Many of these have school age children while many others are retirees or young singles.

The school I teach at uses different components of marketing. We have a logo and a slogan that are easily recognizable. This logo/slogan is used on our website on school uniforms, official letterheads, banners etc. The quality of the services that our school provides is also a marketing factor.
