Supportive team climate requires interpersonal and task connection. If these are developed then the team performs well when there is creative tension, challenges, collaboration, freedom, supportiveness and resources.

Each competency and condition leads to task or personal connection. The reason is that competencies in a team have to be used in most instances in conjunction with those of others, only then meaningful work can be carried out and the goals of the team achieved. For instance, if we consider goal setting, it can be meaningful only if the goals have the support and assent from most members. One individual cannot set goals all by herself (Fitch. K 1998),. The goal setting process includes consultation with team members, inputs from each team member, and a formal or informal commitment towards the goals.
