What are some of the common measures used in staffing?

Unlike in past it is being increasing realized by companies and practitioners of HR consulting that filling of the positions is not the best and sole role of HR departments? HR must be able to analyze available data, and quantify it real percentages or dollars to enable the company a proper decision in the matter of staffing. Their first job is to identify, define and justify the position. In the present day scenario consideration is not the recruiting of the good people but the most suitable to the position.

After all staffing is the matter of recruitment, selection, development, training and compensation of the personnel. The HR performance measures are essential tools to keep the track of development taking place of all the employees in a particular department, including selection performance. It is the job of the Managers, supervisors and all other functionaries to get things done through the efforts of other individuals. Acting on your instructions the employees maintain relationships of the company with customers, handling their complaints, criticism and other grievances. Unless there is an established criterion to measure the performance of every employee it will be difficult to decide who is in the need of training, counseling or transfer to some other department where his talents may be better utilized.
