1) What is (or was) your business?

I am co-owner of our public accounting and auditing firm. I am currently the Chief Operating Officer and have held this position for the past four years. Our firm is well established in the northeast Ohio area. We have been in business for over thirty years, and serve more than 4,200 individual and business clients. Our firm handles all aspects of public accounting including general accounting, income tax services, financial planning, and investment planning, and auditing services. We have a regular staff of seventeen full-time workers, and we have an additional ten seasonal workers during tax time that start on February 1st of every year, and work until April 15th.

2) What are the advantages of being a female entrepreneur?

There are definitely more advantages now than there were decades ago. As more and more women have become successful entrepreneurs, women have gained a new respect in the business community. One of the biggest advantages that I have being a female entrepreneur is the interaction with clients that is not always the same from a male perspective.

- For instance, most women tend to have a higher emotional receptivity when involved in an interaction. This becomes an aid when dealing with clients, particularly if the client is showing resistance to certain ideas or suggestions.
