The female just landed a large account and her supervisor is a flirt and wants to meet for dinner to discuss her expense report. She reports this unwanted act to Human Resources. At this point what happened to her since she reported it and what legal boundaries did her supervisor cross. Have to develop action so this does not happen again. The supervisor's act could have been classified as a case of sexual harassment. Let us first explain sexual harassment. Sexual harassment involves unwanted sexual attention. It may be directed towards men or women by someone of the opposite (or even the same) sex. Sexual harassment is often classified as either (1) quid pro quo harassment, or (2) hostile work environment. Quid pro quo means to interchange something for something else, such as sexual favors in return for a job or for a raise. A hostile work environment may involve anything from a poster display of skimpily clad females, to jokes or physical contact of a sexual nature, to leering.
In the above mentioned scenario, the male supervisor would not be guilty of sexual harassment for asking female worker out for dinner, if he is refused by female worker and he does not make a second attempt or continue to insist for dinner. However, if he continue to insist female worker for dinner despite rejection, it will become a case of sexual harassment. A case of sexual harassment can be filed by the female worker in such a scenario.
