Through discussion and illustrative example, let's consider each section and information for you to consider.

RESPONSE:

You have made a good start choosing ABC Transportation Inc.

Let's assume your company has a formal code of ethics similar to the code located at URL: http://ethics.iit.edu/codes/coe/state.nj.transportation.html.

The ABC Transportation INC exists to serve the public interest. Therefore, the code exists as a guide for all employees in order to conduct themselves in the course of their duties so as to hold the respect, trust, and confidence of the public. They must avoid any activity or association which is, or appears to be, a violation of the public interest. To maintain public trust and confidence, the Code of Ethics is adopted. Its purpose is to inform employees of the standards of conduct and responsibilities that govern them.

Based on this above example, the topics that you could consider for your hypothetical transportation company are:

? Basic Policy and Structure of the Code 4
? Use of State Property 4
? Acceptance of Gifts 4
? Conflict of Interest 7
? Misuse of Official Position or Information 11
