Of the pathways in respiration, which one produces the least energy? The Next least? The Most? How do you know this, and why is this important to the environement we live in (ie on Earth?)? Ideas are presented.
In general cellular respiration there are 3 separate processes. Glycolysis, the Krebs Cycle, and the electron transport chain (and oxidative phosphorylation). You can rate how much energy each pathway produces by comparing how much ATP they produce because ATP is the primary energy molecule in the body. That is how you know how much energy is produced.
For each molecule of glucose metabolized, glycolysis gives you 2 ATP.
The Krebs cycle also gives you 2 ATP per molecule ...
