What are the advantages and disadvantages of having diversity training conducted by internal employees versus using an outside consultant? Which would you prefer?

After the Civil Rights Act of 964 was passed, diversity training in the workplace primarily consisted of rules about employee behavior that was forbidden by federal and state laws (Lofhjelm, 2001). Although these written rules remain common, they are often accompanied by other rules set in place by federal and state laws such as Americans with Disabilities Act and sexual harassment laws. In the 1980s and 1990s, many workplaces began implementing a more ambitious action plan in preventing discrimination, called diversity training (Lofhjelm, 2001).
