Qualitative research is research dealing with phenomena that are difficult or impossible to quantify mathematically, such as beliefs, meanings, attributes, and symbols; it may involve content analysis. Qualitative research takes a broader view, examining all aspects in order to come to a more complete understanding of the entire system being studied. Studies are made in the natural environment where there can be no controlling variables. It is very subjective, being based on a participant's observations, notes and interviews. Results are given through a narrative (1).
