Psychologists and other therapists generally study the human mind and human behavior. Research psychologists study the physical, cognitive, emotional, or social aspects of human or animal behavior through research. These therapists then use these results to provide assessment, analysis, testing, comparing and contrasting, and therapy or referral. According to Cherry, 2010, psychologists in health service fields provide mental health care in hospitals, clinics, schools, or private settings. This is generally done by providing one on one therapy, group therapy, other types of therapy, programs such as 12-step programs, or referral to medical doctors for psychopharmacological treatment.
