What are the differences in test construction between the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) and the Neuroticism-Extroversion-Openness (NEO) Personality Inventory? Which do you think is more valid? Explain your response.

The primary difference between the two tests is that the NEO-PI-R (Costa & MCcrae, 1992) is constructed based on factor analysis that is designed to assess major traits and other personality factors. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality (MMPI, Hathaway & McKinley, 1940) is designed for psychiatric assessment and diagnoses. It contains 566 true/false items. The test has ten clinical scales, and four validity scales.
