According to McLeod (2007), "attachment behaviors are instinctive and will be activated by any conditions that seem to threaten the achievement of proximity, such as separation, insecurity and fear." The ethological theory is a form of attachment theory proposed by the likes of Bowlby and Lorenz who believed that (McLeod, 2007), "children come into the world biologically pre-programmed to form attachments with others, because this will help them to survive." Essentially, the theorists believe that human evolution has necessitated for babies to be close to their mothers, to attach themselves to their mothers essentially because attachment, constant contact can increase a baby's survivability. Mothers too have been 'biologically designed' accordingly to foster constant contact to ensure care and provision of needs to their babies to help their babies ...
