Inadequate diets lead to malnutrition, a condition that occurs when your body does not get enough nutrients. Causes can be grouped in to the following main categories

a) Inadequate or unbalanced diets
b) Problems with digestion or absorption
c) Certain medical conditions

Inadequate or unbalanced diets:

Include dietary deficiencies as iron deficiency anemia, beriberi and also eating disorders like binge eating, anorexia nervosa etc.

Iron Deficiency Anemia

Iron is an integral component of hemoglobin which is oxygen carrying molecule of red blood cells. Iron deficiency can lead to anemia which body has less than required RBCs for adequate oxygen transport. It can occur due to reduced intake of iron or increased blood loss. In mild cases it is asymptomatic and at the most show vague symptoms of fatigue and lethargy.
