An electronic medical record (EMR) is essential in a healthcare organization. There are so many places that a patient can enter into the hospital or institution. If the records are not kept in a digital format, it is easy to miss vital information necessary for the care of the patient. Patients forget their medications, allergies and previous medical or surgical events. Keeping an ongoing EMR with corrected information for the patient who may be too ill to remember this information or forgetful prevents duplication and errors.
