How might the nurse use the concept of empowerment in assisting families to deal with the recurring infestations with head lice?

Empowerment is the concept of encouraging individual's to make her or his own decision. It is about empowering the family through nurse-family interaction that results in the family being motivated to take change of the situation e.g., make their own choices about these lice epidemics and they realizing that they have the ability to take specific steps to take charge of this situation (e.g., recurring infestations with head lice). However, knowledge is empowering, so the nurse also needs to provide information and teach the family how to deal effectively with the situation.

So, how can a nurse empower and motivate the family?
