The issue of skin to skin contact immediately after birth involves a variety of issues. Educating professionals before they enter the workforce would be advantageous. Cultural, feasibility and practical perspectives are important to consider. Single mothers, regional practices and cost-benefit analysis should be evaluated.
Point (b) calls for the description of the problem and some might argue there is no problem. But with the movement away from traditional western-style hospital births and more toward home births and with use of midwives when giving birth this might help in the momentum for change.
