State this disease's type influenza (primary, secondary, and tertiary) and what makes it classified as such.

In reference to primary prevention, secondary prevention, and tertiary prevention, the objective for healthcare is to prevent infectious diseases before they occur but if this can't be accomplished, the objective is to engage in secondary prevention wherein early detection and treatment of the disease is done to prevent the disease from progressing into an epidemic, and finally, if all these steps are not capable of being done, the objective is to engage in tertiary prevention wherein interventions are used to reduce the amount of disability that patients may be exposed to because of the infectious disease.

Influenza, which is more commonly referred to as the "flu" has been a scourge on humanity for 500 years since the term influenza was coined in Italy during the 1500s, the most effective protection for preventing people from catching the flu is to use immunization as the primary prevention method. Yearly flu shots is recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as these immunizations are effective in providing protection to the most vulnerable populations for catching the flu, which are young children and the elderly.
