1. The debate of when an embryo is considered human with the full rights of a person is one that has persisted since the issue of abortion came to the publics attention. It is a personal view as to when an embryo is a person. The law protects fetuses at a certain point in development but the embryos from which stem cells are derived could not survive on their own and develop into a sentient being without the support of the womb. At the point at which stem cells would be isolated they have the potential to form a human being but even in a normal situation fetus are spontaneously aborted or develop improperly. While I don't believe that embryos should be off limits for harvesting stem cells they must also not be treated as a consumable product without the realization of their potential to form human live.
