Jot down examples that you have noticed that make reference to female bodies, and what is popular, or appears to be desirable, that you have seen in the mass media. How many ads have you seen for weight loss, and what do many female stars look like? What is the "ideal" woman supposed to look like? Now that you have that mental picture of the popular media's ideal woman, compare what that fantasy woman looks like to most of the "real" women you know. If you are a typical man, you will instantly realize what this essay is all about, since the perfect woman, as depicted by the popular media, does not look much like most real women you probably know.

Next, organize your thoughts and decide what points you would like to make regarding the difference between the media's ideal woman and most real women, and what real women sometimes do to try and reach that media-inspired fantasy goal, and you will have what you need for your essay. Your essay does not need to read like a woman wrote it - include your male point of view, as long as it is sympathetic to the issue. Praising Daisy Duke, or the latest Playboy centerfold, would pretty much be a big mistake with this assignment.
